Windows 7 On My Machine

Windows 7Last week, Charlotte told me that she has a copy of a 64bit Windows 7 so I asked her to bring it in my place just in case.

I never really wanted to install new flavor of Windows but since I have already the copy of the OS and I’ve been thinking of reformatting my system, so I think I give it a try. I installed a 64bit Windows 7 and dropped Windows XP on my machine. It’s been a week now and so far everything is running smoothly, no hardware problems and all is well and stable. I think my system is ready for production.

I admit it, I’m started to liking this Windows 7, not for its aesthetically satisfying look but for its productivity boost that given me to my day to day work. All is well, jumping from window to another and finding files.

By default, Windows 7 takes over your boot-up process and wants to be your only OS, and Linux treats Windows like a weekend hobby you keep in a shed somewhere on your hard drive.

Yeah, True. The only problem now in my machine is on how to restore my boot loader to boot my installed Ubuntu 9.10. And this is the problem since Ubuntu 9.10 uses Grub 2 by default. It’s new for me and I haven’t read the Grub 2 documentations yet. I tried restoring the boot loader by legacy method but it’s different (oTL). Anyways, the only solution now is to learn. Hooray~!

Heal Me Please

Self treatment is not advisable unless you know what you’re doing to yourself. It might get worse and your not like Rambo or anything, you should go to a doctor and get some check-up. Well, but what if you live in a place where the hospital or clinic is 20 miles away from your home? Would you bother? And all you have is some herbal in your grandmothers backyard, and some ointment in your grandfathers closet and of course Internet. Seriously, you will do some “self treatment” on your self and boost that HP of yours.

Well, internet is necessary unless you have a medicine book or you are a doctor. Now that you have the internet in your hand, search for what symptoms you’ve got and see what’s the Cures for Ailments that your symptoms matches. Just make sure or you will be messed up. And since you’re at your computer why not know how various physical and mental conditions affect the brain’s formation by looking at these Brain Scan SPECT Images by The Amen Clinics. Visit Dr. Amen’s site and learn how you could treat your mental problems. It may help you.

Now What?

digime-miniI’ve been using Ubuntu for a while now and somehow I feel comfortable using it. It’s been a year since I installed Ubuntu and even tried some other distro such as Fedora, Open Suse and Solaris but haven’t actually using it as a part of my daily life. I just installed it, take a quick tour, explore a bit then leave and booted back to Windows.

I still have lots and lots to learn about these systems, especially when it comes to admin tasks, the file system and the environment. Also I’m curious about other distro and the Linux kernel. And how does it feels writing a program in this environment, from developing to deploying your own program. I want to learn it, the terms, structures and as well as the tools. So good luck to me.

Sudden Change of Theme: Wordpress 2.8

A sudden change of theme, huh? Well, I woke up and checked my blog and I’m happy that Wordpress 2.8 was being released today. After the updates my latest k2 theme messed up, I wonder if there are conflicts in the JS script loader of k2 and the updated version of wordpress. I haven’t any theme for my blog yet so I ended up using my custom theme. Well, it’s okay. I wanted to change my theme lately but I could find the one that I want.

Anyways, thanks Wordpress Team for the updates. As always, great work! Check out the highlights and features in Wordpress 2.8 here.

A Random

Got my enrollment fee this afternoon, thinking if I should enroll this semester… Arrived at school at 4 something o’clock, I asked one of the teachers for the enrollment. He gave me a form, filling out the form was a pain. It was past 5 and I thought I would just go home, I’ll continue business with school in Monday.

Arrived at home and I’m not in the mood to work. Checked my emails, browse the web and read some tweets. And In the end, I ended up watching anime.

Pangrammic Autogram

Not so long ago, I found this page. And Today, I’m thinking to code my own self-enumerating pangram(php). Well, I’m curious on how it works and I know there are tons of codes out there on the net about pangram. I haven’t google it yet and I don’t want to because if I do, I may spoil my adventure on this and I want to discover it for myself.

For quick info, a pangram is a sentence using every alphabet at least once. Example of this is:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

While a self-enumerating pangram is it enumerates or describe the number of letter it contains. This follows the general format of:

This sentence contains <number> a’s, <number> b’s, <number> c’s, …

For example:

Only a fool would check that this sentence contains exactly six ‘a’s, one ‘b’, six ‘c’s, three ‘d’s, thirty-four ‘e’s, five ‘f’s, two ‘g’s, ten ‘h’s, thirteen ‘i’s, one ‘j’, two ‘k’s, five ‘l’s, one ‘m’, twenty-two ‘n’s, seventeen ‘o’s, one ‘p’, one ‘q’, seven ‘r’s, thirty-two ’s’s, twenty-six ‘t’s, three ‘u’s, seven ‘v’s, eight ‘w’s, six ‘x’s, seven ‘y’s, and one ‘z’.

Well, everything is ready it seems. Wish me luck! [it's either good or bad, it's you choice...]

Parallel Will No Longer Exist

Parallel will no longer exist, I am talking about “this” parallel, my blog. One of these days, the name of my blog will be change to… *thinking* …something. Yes, it’ll be change to something.. name. A name something mischievous  And at the same time, I’ll deploy the custom theme I’ve made. Yeah, I’ve made a custom theme and show it off in to my portfolio.

And about my portfolio, I haven’t coded it yet, I have the design already but haven’t coded yet. And the logo… hmm.. I’m thinking of redesigning the logo, it looks like a ehrr(site) or something like that. See? it does look like a… Nevermind. I have loaded of projects in line, from personal to school to work. I’ll have just to finish all of the projects and after that I’ll have to work on my portfolio, I haven’t any entries yet to be showcase anyway, except the portfolio itself and the upcoming design this blog.

Hope this will be up soon…

What ya’ doing?

I just finished upgrading wordpress. And thinking about making a custom theme of this blog but there are tons of things I’m currently working right now. First is my portfolio demilane, I’ve finished the mock-up of the site and maybe my portfolio will be up soon. Second is making a premade layout and a wallpaper for chanlu. Then a quick review and write an application written in C# for my training.

And lastly, I’m gonna make my projects, two applications written in vb6. One is a VoIP application and the other is umm, any application that can be run in a network. That’s for my Major Elective 3 and Data Communications project.

And this week is our prelim examination. That’s just great! Anyhow, hope I can manage these exams…
